Christmas Layouts

Just wanted to post a few christmas layouts

Altered Wood Frames

It is so easy to dress up a simple (and cheap) wood frame. I made these first frames for my son's teachers. Frames only cost me $1 a piece!! I decoupaged pattern paper to the frame. I finished it up with a few die cut flowers, and distressed the edges with ink.

Same technique for these. I used BasicGrey products for all frames.

GINGERBREAD

I have fallen in love with gingerbread. I bought a house shaped scrapbook and decorated it to look like a gingerbread house. Martha Stewart has great candy stickers. I lkied the results so much I decided to give the real thing a try. I had a gingerbread party for MOMS Club. All the kids decorated little houses. It was easier to make the houses than I expected. I got all the "blueprints" and recipes at www.gingerbreadlane.com

Creative Gift Wrapping

Well after you have made an awesome homemade gift, you do not want to forget to wrap it!! Here are a few alternatives to wrapping with regular old wrapping paper. I dug into my scrapbook stash for these...

For this first one I actually made wrapping paper out of photos. I cut several photos, glued them to a 11x17 sheet of paper and made a clolr copy of the sheet. The end result is wrapping paper with your photos on it. Wrap it around an inexpensive paper mache box along with ribbon and pattern paper and you have a great gift box that can be used forever!!

This one is another paper mache box wrapped in pattern paper. I use decoupage to adhere it to the box. I used 5 different ribbons for this wrapping, and wove it to create a unique look.

This final one was super simple. I used a plain paint can from the hardware store, placed a few ornaments on the handle and cut out pattern paper to put on the front.

Homemade Christmas Gifts

It is easy to create homemade gifts for little cost. Of course they will still have a TON of meaning. Homemade ornaments are a great gift for anyone on your list. For this ornament I simply purchased a glass ornament from Michael's, added a photo, filled it with clear buttons. Placed gems and glitter to the outside, and the ornament is complete

This second ornament was a little more difficult. but is still very inexpensive. I simply drew a butterfly template onto thin cardboard, traced that template onto a pattern paper and glued the pattern paper to the cardboard. I folded the template slightly in the middle to make the butterfly appear to be flying, and hid the ribbon on the back so that when it hangs on the tree that ribbon will not be visible. For a finishing touch I again added gems and glitter.

For this final ornament I used a Acrylic Stamp Block, which can be purchsed at any scrapbook store in many different sizes. I adheared a photo to the back, added some rub-ons and gems. I used a hot glue gun to adhere the ribbon along the sides of the block.
